This 1968 Chevrolet Camaro RS coupe is powered by a replacement 327ci (5.4L) V8 installed in the mid-1980s and equipped with double-hump cylinder heads, an Edelbrock intake manifold, Holley four-barrel carburetor, and long-tube exhaust headers with Flowmaster mufflers. Recent work includes replacement of the alternator, mechanical fuel pump, fuel line, and spark plugs. The replacement three-speed automatic transmission was also installed in the mid-1980s and has received transmission service including a new pan gasket, selector shaft seal, filter, filter O-ring, gear sleeve, and cooler lines.
The Camaro was originally finished in Palomino Ivory with a black vinyl roof and was refinished in black during a cosmetic refurbishment in the mid-2010s. Exterior features include RS hideaway headlamps, 327 and Rally Sport badging, rear lip spoiler, dual side mirrors, and chrome bumpers and trim. The car rides on 15-inch American Racing Torque Thrust D wheels with 225/60 white-letter BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires installed in 2023. Power-assisted front disc brakes and rear drums provide braking, while extensive suspension and steering work in 2024 included a replacement subframe, idler arm, pitman arm, ball joints, shocks, tie-rod ends, control-arm bushings, subframe mounts, and rear shocks.
Inside, the Camaro features re-trimmed black vinyl front bucket seats and rear bench seating, woodgrain dash and center-console trim, lap belts, power steering, and a JVC AM/FM cassette stereo. The three-spoke steering wheel fronts a 120-mph speedometer and fuel gauge, with Equus gauges below the dash monitoring oil pressure, voltage, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer reads 60,000 miles, TMU. Additional recent work includes replacement of the left door hinge pin and bushings and the speedometer cable. The driver’s door window does not sit flush, the driver’s door Camaro badge is missing, and some paint and body blemishes are present.
